F ebruary 18th, 2012 - Chad took part in the final event of the 36th Annual Winternationals on Saturday night at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida) as 41 Super Late Models signed in to battle for the $10,000 top prize in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event. In his heat race he advanced from the eighth starting spot to a fourth place finish to lock into the main event for the second straight night. After starting 14th on the grid for the 50 lap feature Stapleton would survive attrition, melees, and tire issues to record a 14th place finish. Full results are available at www.LucasDirt.com.
February 17th, 2012 - After a few years of trying Chad finally got over the hump and qualified for his first-ever, main event at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida) on Friday night in the first point's event of the year for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). Almost a three hour delay for rain began the night before hot laps and time trials finally commenced for the $10,000-to-win event. Chad would fall two spots short of locking into the feature via heat race action before racing his way into the fourth and final transfer spot in b-main action. Stapleton started 24th on the grid for the 50 lap feature before marching forward ten spots on his way to a 14th place finish. Overall it was a great night for the team. February 16th, 2012 - Thursday saw another frustrating night for Chad and the team as they entered another $7,000-to-win event at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida). Forty-four entries registered for action, and in time trials Chad was sixteenth fastest to earn the eighth starting spot for the fourth heat. Unfortunately, mechanical woes would prevent him from making the call for the heat race as his night ended early. Full results are available at www.LucasDirt.com.
February 15th, 2012 - On Wednesday night the team took part in a $7,000-to-win event at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida), which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Chad would again find himself behind the eight ball early in the event as he struggled in time trials, which resulted in him starting deep in his heat race. After not making up much ground in the heat, the team made some changes and decided to use the b-main as an opportunity to test. While Stapleton would not reach a transfer spot in the b-main he was able to turn some quality laps as he successfully found some information that he will use in the remaining events in the 36th Annual Winternationals. February 14th, 2012 - Looking to erase the bad luck from Monday night, Chad and the team entered the second round of the 36th Annual Winter Nationals at East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Florida) on T uesday night. Once again a $5,000 winner's check was on the line for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned program as 42 cars registered for battle. In time trials, Chad was 13th fastest, which resulted in him starting seventh in his heat race. He would race his way to a sixth place finish, which left him short of a transfer to the main event. In his b-main he would start third, and with the top four cars moving onto the feature, he was excited about his chances, but bad luck would strike in the first corner, when he spun from contention to bring out the caution. He would rejoin the tail of the field for a few laps before ultimately retiring from the event, bringing his night to an early end. Full results are available at www.LucasDirt.com.
February 13th, 2012 - Chad opened his 2012 campaign on Monday night at East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Florida) with the opening round of the 36th Annual Winter Nationals. With $5,000 on the line Stapleton was eager to get his season underway, but unfortunately it would prove to be a bumpy ride for the Indiana driver in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event. After having a good car in practice in Sunday night and in hot laps on Monday night, Chad went out for time trials. Entering turn three on his single, qualifying lap Stapleton jumped the cushion and got into the wall. He was able to drive away from the wall with minimal damage, but the resulting, poor time forced him to start at the back of a heat race. With heavy, fast conditions present on the track, passing was difficult, and despite his best efforts he was unable to race his way into the feature event via heat race or b-main action. The team will try again on Tuesday night. Full results are available at www.LucasDirt.com.
